Gordon Dougall is the founder and Artistic Director of Sounds of Progress whose mentorship skills have aided the careers of many of Scotland’s disabled musicians and performers.  An experienced musical director, composer, writer and theatre director he has worked in the arts and entertainment business for over 30 years with Red Ladder Theatre Leeds, The Tron Theatre Glasgow, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Dundee Rep, National Theatre of Romania, Merlin Theatre Budapest, Parapanda Arts Lab Tanzania, Communicado, TAG Theatre, Wildcat Stage Productions, and Mull Theatre. He was also Musical Director/Composer for the Kings Theatre Glasgow for four years. Most recently Gordon Directed and wrote the music for the TMA Award Nominated production Katie Morag for Mull Theatre and was musical director for the Forbes Masson musicals Stiff! and Mince?. In the early to mid 70’s Gordon was a founder member of Scots rock/soul band Ignatz before going on to Join soul band Mafia in 1979.  In his music and musical directorial careers he has worked alongside Maggie Reilly, Alan Gorrie, Dougie Martin, Elaine C. Smith, Tracy Nelson, Willis Alan Ramsay, Eddie Reader, Billy Boyd, Peter Mullan, Michael Boyd,  Prunella Scales, Neil Kinnock, Clive Dunn, Nigel Dunn, Colin Chisolm, Ricky Ross, Mrisho Mpoto, Jackie Bird, Blythe Duff, Terry Neason, James McKenzie, Grant Stott, Chick Murray, Siobhan Redmond, Dorothy Paul, Tommy Gemmell, Jimmy Johnstone, Frank McAvennie, and his big brother Ken Dougall.  (To name but a few and it’s all for real!)

Gordon is a multi-award winning artist who has been instrumental in the resurgence of The Tron Theatre Pantomimes working for the past seven years as director and co-writer. He is still at the fore front of original modern music, playing guitar and piano with the internationally acclaimed singer Maggie Reilly in Europe and America and as a composer has produced many scores for film and television. He is also a member of the successful music studio partnership Moonglass Music where at the moment he is recording a new Cd album, at the new Sounds of Progress studio base in 73/77 Trongate Glasgow, to be released later in the year.
